Adult Transport Portable Ventilator
Uni-Vent 700 Series
Description
Uni-Vent is a portable electronically controlled time-cycled, pressure limited ventilator. It provides ventilatory support in CONTROL, ASSIST-CONTROL(A/C), and SIMV modes. During A/C or SIMV modes, Uni-Vent will automatically revert to a special A/C mode if the patient becomes apneic.
Uni-Vent is operable from internal, rechargeable batteries or external 12vDC.
Controls
Flow adjust: The flow adjust control may be used with 100% O2, medical grade air or blended mixtures of oxygen or air. This control is calibrated in two scales: liters per minute(LPM) and milliliters per second (ml/SEC).
Mode selector switch: Provides power in Control, A/C, SIMV or CAL positions. Turning the mode switch to A/C, Control, or SIMV causes the microprocessor to perform a "self-check".
Rate Control: Controls the ventilation rate in Control, A/C, and SIMV modes.
Rate Display Pushbutton switch: Activates display to show the RATE control setting.
Inspiration Time control: The inspiration time control sets the inspiration duration of all ventilator delivered breaths. Adjustable in 0.1 sec intervals from 0.1-3.0 seconds maximum. Its range is limited by the Rate control setting. Inverse I:E ratios are not allowed.
Inspiration Time Display Pushbutton switch: Activates display to show the Inspiration time control setting.
Low Pressure Alarm Control: This control is used to set the low pressure alarm activation point. Its range is from OFF to 50 cm H2O.
Low Pressure Alarm Display Pushbutton switch: Activates display to show the Low Pressure Alarm control setting.
High Pressure Alarm Control: This control is used to set the high pressure alarm activation point. Its range is from 15 to 100 cm H2O.
High Pressure Alarm Display Pushbutton switch: Activates display to show the High Pressure Alarm control setting.
Assist/SIMV Sensitivity Switch: This controls the threshold for activation of inspiration in these modes.
Manual Trigger pushbutton switch: Overrides automatic operation.
Sigh OFF/ON pushbutton switch: Controls use of sighs with regular mechanical ventilation.
PEEP OFF/ON Pushbutton switch: This switch provides a means of converting Uni-Vent sensitivity control pressure reference from atmospheric to atmospheric plus PEEP.
PEEP auto on/Display pushbutton switch: When PEEP OFF/ON is activated, Uni-Vent defaults to PEEP Auto ON, permitting automatic monitoring of PEEP. Depressing the switch activates display to show the current PEEP pressure.
PEEP Manual display/set pushbutton switch: In this mode Uni-Vent does not track PEEP.
PEAK Airway Pressure display pushbutton switch: Instructs microprocessor to display the peak pressure of the most recent inspiration.
Mean Airway Pressure display pushbutton switch: Instructs microprocessor to display the mean airway pressure, taken from last 5 breaths.
Alarm Mute/Cancel pushbutton switch: Depressing this switch mutes the alarms for a certain period of time. Alarm resets if condition causing alarm stops or period of mute time is reached.
Set up Operation
Turn Mode Selector Switch to CAL and press Mean Airway Pressure pushbutton in and hold for three seconds. A tone will sound and display will register "00" and tone will cease.
Turn Mode Selector switch to the desired mode.
Adjust rate, inspiration time, gas flow adjust, low and high pressure alarm.
Tidal Volume can be quickly calculated by multiplying the Flow Adjust control setting(using ml/SEC scale) by the inspiration time control setting (in seconds or fractions of seconds).
Attach ventilator to patient.
